About Us
New Hampton locals Jim and Joyce Klunder opened their popular destination restaurant Klunder’s Kafe on July 7, 1981, at a truck stop on Old Highway 63. Their goal was to serve the best “prepared-from-scratch” home-cooked food at reasonable prices. It caught on. They are still ‘cooking’ today!
Over The Years
The iconic New Hampton restaurant is even better, forty-five years later.
With the help of their five kids and an outstanding staff, Klunder’s Kafe is a landmark dining destination for locals and travelers.
Jimmy and Susie Klunder manage the day-to-day operations, with over 50 dedicated employees!
The Future Looks Bright
Now at their new location, near Highway 63 and Highway 18, the Kafe is more popular than ever. Their popularity expands beyond local residents, and the Kafe has become a ‘go-to’ location for travelers heading north and south on Highway 63.
With over 1,500 Google reviews, the restaurant continues to grow in popularity. The Kafe accommodates large and small groups. No reservations are required.
The John Wayne western motif and theme (thanks to Jerry Hoffey) display unique antiques on the walls. There is table, booth, and counter seating.
An amazing glass pie case greets you as you enter, teasing you to take a piece with you for later.
