Serving Customers Since 1981

Meals Prepared From Scratch

Our New Hampton restaurant has a rich history. Local New Hampton residents Jim and Joyce Klunder built the now-famous Klunder’s Kafe in 1981, and their goal remains the same: to serve the best “prepared-from-scratch” home-cooked food at reasonable prices. The Kafe was originally located at a truck stop on Old Highway 63.

With the help of their five kids and an outstanding staff, Klunder’s Kafe has become a landmark dining destination for locals and many travelers.

Fast forward to today, and Klunder’s Kafe is a successful family-run business. Son and daughter-in-law Jim and Susie Klunder continue the proud tradition of managing the Kafe.

Our New Hampton Restaurant

In 2015, the Kafe moved its New Hampton restaurant to its new location near Highway 63 and Highway 18 to be more accessible to its growing traveling diners. Thus, it’s still popular with residents and feeds the thousands of visitors traveling up and down Highway 63.

We accommodate groups of all sizes; no reservations are required. The restaurant has a John Wayne Western theme, with art and antiques covering the walls.
